Work and live permanently in New Zealand as a skilled migrant
New Zealand is looking for people with the skills, qualifications and experience to help our country grow and innovate in the future. We also want skilled migrants to settle here feeling welcome and able to make a positive contribution.
If you’ve got the skills we need, our Skilled Migrant Category offers you the opportunity to move to New Zealand to work and live permanently. 

How does the Skilled Migrant Category work?
You fill in an Expression of Interest (EOI) either online or on a paper form. The EOI form gives us an indication of your suitability – explain your skills, experience, and your family circumstances, and on the way you can claim points. You need 100 points to submit an EOI.

Your EOI goes into a pool; periodically, EOIs will be selected from the Pool as follows:

EOIs that have total points of 140 or more will be selected automatically from the Pool; and

EOIs that have total points of 100 or more but less than 140, and include points for offers of skilled employment or current skilled employment in New Zealand, will be selected (according to their points ranking), in sufficient numbers to meet the requirements of the New Zealand Immigration Programme (NZIP); and

If following the selection process set out above, further places are available, additional EOIs may be selected from the Pool on the basis of additional selection criteria set from time to time by the Minister of Immigration, having regard to the objectives of the Skilled Migrant Category.

If your EOI is selected, the information in your EOI will then be verified, and if your claim is credible, you will be invited to apply for residence.
Once you apply for residence you will have to show us evidence of your claims on your EOI form and that you meet our health, character and English language requirements.

Skilled Migrant Category applications are not processed in Moscow.
